Why Should Disable Comment?

admin Avatar

If you read about my tips (OMG I cannot believe it that I am giving tips!) in THIS ENTRY, I ada mention about disable comment. And this is a respond from our fellow reader:

Port Dickson Guy December 26, 2009 at 3:41 pm [edit]

I have taken your tip to disable comments because it is so embarrassing to show 0 comments, but sometimes I think to myself, what if someone really want to start commenting? How? If I disable forever, then forever I will not be able to see any comments isn’t it?

I did mention there, if you are NEW to blogosphere. New means you just started your blog.

On top of that, we have different reasons to blog. For bloggers who blog for themselves and their families/friends, derang tak kisah pun tentang komen tak komen ni. So they might not need this advice. In this case, if you blog for traffic, so it is advisable if you disable comment for your first few entries.

Why? Because your blog needs some entries, and you need time to write them. So, disabling comment is applied during the period where you are developing your contents.

Take it like this. Which blog you like the most? Kenapa suka blog tu? Kenapa selalu berkunjung ke blog tu? One of the reasons maybe sebab ada daily update, or sebab banyak entry yang terlepas so kena selalu masuk baca. Kalau blog tu cuma ada 3 entries saja & dah 3 minggu tak ada update, rasanya nak jadi loyal reader tak?

So nampak tak, sesebuah blog untuk jadi kesayangan : — banyak content, update selalu.

But for new bloggers, they need time untuk dapatkan banyak content. So while building content ni, ada jugak visitor masuk sesekali. Tapi bila tengok ‘O Comment’, mungkin visitor tu rasa blog ni tak menarik, tak ada orang baca then dia tak datang dah. If it were you, you’ll stick to blog with ’20 comments’ or with ‘0 comment’? Except you know tuan dia la…

So, sementara tulis entry banyak sikit, disable comment dulu.

Actually this is what I did. I disable comment for some moment. Until a friend of mine send a private message to enable comment on my blog, as she wanted to comment on my entries but no comment box available. From that day I enable comments on my blog, and started to receive comments 🙂 Thanks!

Answering to PD Guy’s question, it is not forever, dear. It is a temporary step before at least you know you have regular readers. You would know this by putting Google Analytic codes (or any analytics) in your blog. When you have many new readers and returning readers, you know it’s time for you to enable comments 🙂

Or you can install a chatbox on your sidebar. Your readers might shout “Please allow comment in your entries!”, so you know they are eager to leave their comment.

Good luck!

as I said, it is not disabling forever, & ia advise untuk new serious blogger je. hehe. meaning, blogger baru yg memang blog for traffic & money.

kalau blogger otai macam Zu dah takyah nak piki disable2 ni 😀

thats why i say depend. kalo tulis blog as personal diary culd be tak kisah kot kalo takde komen kan?

hmm for blogspot.. i think takde feature utk sticky mode kan? u have to publish the entry ‘pada tarikh yg akan datang’ so that ia melekat kat situ. that’s why ur last blog tak berubah2, sebab the latest date your blog capture is 10 Jan hehe. so any entries before 10 Jan tak dikira latest entry 😉
