Dr Anna Padmavathy arranged for Fahry an appoinment with Dr. Robert, the orthopedic surgeon at Damansara Specialist Hospital (DSH) on Thursday 28 May. It wasn’t far from our house but Abiy still need to take half day because his office is farther.
It was our very first time in that very hospital. The first thing was parking, we couldn’t find any. So we parked in front of the terrace houses nearby.
DSH is like other KPJ hospitals, very warm and friendly. And it’s baby friendly too. A banner was attached on one of the walls to acknowledge that DSH is a baby friendly hospital.
Dr. Robert’s clinic was at level 1. It was not many patient that morning, only Fahry and the other 2 pakciks. We chatted with one of the pakcik, a pensioner who dislocated his shoulder some times ago. Fahry, as usual, a friendly baby ‘talked’ to the atuk until he felt bored and I had to bring him out, take a walk along the isle. It was so silent, hanya kedengaran suaramu, Fahry!
Dr. Robert is an Indian guy, a very nice one. He checked Fahry’s legs while talking to him and Fahry was so happy when somebody layans him. And it was like a true conversation between those two. Bila Dr. Robert asked “How are you?”, Fahry seemed to say “I’m fine”. When Dr. Roberts said “Do you want to use kaki palsu?”, Fahry nodded his head! Dr. Robert said “Wah, you’re so clever” Ekekeke.
He gave us 3 months for the next appointment. For now he’ll just let Fahry grows and develop like a normal baby, turns, creeps, crawls, but only after he stars to stand up, then he might recommend for artificial leg. And Fahry might need to attend some therapy sessions, which he suggested to be at Gleneagles Intan. Banyak sungguh menjelajah hospital. So now Fahry has 3 hospitals to attend : Prince Court, DSH and Gleneagles Intan.
For Fahry’s fingers, he said he’ll let it be like that until the time comes for Fahry to fully use his hands, i.e. to hold things, eats, play piano (huh?), use computer and so on. If Fahry has difficulty then only Dr. Robert will suggest any operation or such. As of now, we just wait and see. He said, sometimes when a person like Fahry get used to his limbs, and when undergo operation, post-operation makes him more difficult than before. Furthermore, he insists on the ‘function’ rather than ‘look’. Tak cantik tak apa, asal boleh guna.
So, there it goes. Dr. Robert predicts that in 3 months time Fahry should able to crawl or maybe try to stand up. And he also suprised after been told that Fahry was born at 28 weeks.Ekekeke.
After the meeting, biasalah the payment. The consultation costs alone is RM80! Muahahaha. Dulu Mommy pegi TTMC RM30 pun setahun tak habis merungut. But for our kis, nothing is matter.
Hopefully by next appoinment (in August) Fahry already standing up lah. Then we can proceed to artificial leg. Tak sabar to see Fahry with a pair of happy feet!
