Aha, takde la homeschool pun. I think I won’t put my children at home and ‘school’ them. I send them to a nursery a.k.a kindy, next year I’ll register Hafiy at a primary school in our neighbourhood. Even, if I would mad with the public schooling system I might send them to private school or international school (berangan!).
But I love to dedicate my time to teach, or just do something ‘academic’ with my kids at home. I have gone through it and I realise that my kids got it better at home than in school. I taught Hafiy alphabets and numbers 2 years ago and he got all in his heart before his second birthday. Fahry shows a different beat. He knows some of the alphabets but he is easily distracted by other things, especially toys. Hafiy is more into books, while Fahry doesn’t like them. They really have opposite characters. 🙂
I dedicate at least 10 minutes everyday(except weekend cos we’re always ‘outstation’) to do such activities with my children in their playroom (one dedicated room, but they PLAYROOM is all over the house!). I don’t do much, just some simple book reading, (including Furqan) sometimes just picture books, scribbling and counting. I don’t mind and I don’t care the outcome from them. It doesn’t matter to me, as long as I could spend the precious time with them consistently.
Tell me,who doesn’t want their kids to be brilliant, genius, etc?
I don’t know where should I put Hafiy. He’s turning 3 this October. When he hits Fahry, I tell myself that “It’s OK,he’s only a 2-years-old” but deep down I feel so tired confronting the same event everyday. Even when Fahry starts to hit Hafiy back. Calar-balar muka masing2.
I tried a different approach. I try to seduce Hafiy with affirmation. Before it was like a ‘bebel’ because you know la one lady show… balik rumah, kemas, masak, basuh baju, kemas rumah, etc. etc. plus the businesses I have to handle, I have to time to watch a WWF. I tried, I told him “Hafiy, you are al-Fateh. You’re a leader, you’re my assistant. I need you to help me, especially to take care of Adik” I keep on telling him over and over again that he is the al-Fateh (the Opener), Allah’s caliph.
Alhamdulillah it works really great. Instead of hitting Fahry when the litte baby sepah-sepah barang, he told Fahry “Adik, kemas balik”. When I ask him to help me to tidy up everything, he’s willing to do. Kalau tak memang takde la.. kalau Adik buat dia taknak masuk campur, boleh jadi bouncer je.
Everynight he will paksa me to teach him, even when I have no more energy to stand. “Sorry Sayang, Mommy sakit kepala” but he cried out loud tersedu sedan made me tak sampai hati untuk tidak bangun uhuhu. I took Performance Drink and Cinch Energy Mix tea for some ‘power’ despite the feeling of nak demam-loya-muntah. Tapi bila dah siap bukak lampu bukak buku semua, boleh pulak dia ajak tido. Saba je lah.
Honestly I feel tired to the max. I am a FTWM, yet a part time WAHM, and a TKAHM as well LOL. I have no time to bersenang-senang T_T except when I’m unwell and need bedrest. Or when one of my gadgets break down. I tried to fill my free time reading as it will make me feel better, like a handbag lover gets a brand new handbag 😀
Sometimes I just want to let everything go but I couldn’t. Who would let their passions go? 🙂
But it pays when your children show you something you never expect. I just put a little expectation on them (even if high goal huhuh) because I don’t want any pressure either on them or myself.

Hafiy loves cars, particularly Ferrari, and only knows those two words, “C A R, car. F E R R A R I, Ferrari”. Hehe. Ada harapan tuh.
