Phishing – Protect Yourself From Phishers

I got this email recently:

This is soooo suspicious, cos I never been ‘inactive’ nor ‘fail login’. So I checked the URL form the links given and see….

Sah! Memang phish!

Most of us are already aware about this phishing activity, an online identity theft method that have gone so popular since we have this maybank2u, cimb clicks and other internet banking. Not only stealing our personal and financial (bank) data, they sometimes spread the virus and infect our computer.

Not only from ‘banks’, sometimes from Ebay, Amazon, Visa, Mastercard and so on… or could be from Nuffnang and Adsense? The best is to check the hyperlink before you click by placing your mouse pointer on it.

Usually phishing victim is anyone with no idea about phishing and someone in a hurry where he has no time to sit back, think and respond to the message.

Even if it may not ‘catch’ all, but phishing is just like fishing. Throwing the mata kail and hoping a fish would bite it.

Protect your email address by typing myname[at]email[dot]com and don’t simply expose email address in any public forum or whatnot (but please don’t do that in my comment box, please. I won’t spam your email, but I need it for my future reference). I created a special email account to register in any unimportant mailing list.
