Now that most of our bloggers (especially mom bloggers) are moving from free domain and free hosting service to the paid one. As for me, I changed from http://mysuperchild.blogspot.com to http://mysuperkids.net, almost a year ago, especially after Fahry came into the picture and I was no more have merely a child. To have our own domain name to me is showing our authority on our own blog 🙂 And it sounds exclusive (for personal blog), where other bloggers are sharing the same domain i.e. blogspot.com or wordpress.com while we have our own dot coms. Let alone the business people lah.
I chose GoDaddy for my domain and HostGator for the hosting service. We also have our local provider, like Senihost, Exabytes, etc.
Some bloggers are just ‘afraid’ when comes to purchase/pay for overseas services. Actually, it just the same as we use local services, just it should be in English, and the transaction is in USD. We may just need credit card and PayPal account for this purpose.
As GoDaddy and HostGator are US based companies, some of us may want to use non-US based, or maybe want to seek other overseas providers. And as my domain is going to expire soon, I might want to change the provider.. would I? So we have to look at other service provider. One of them is PickAWeb. It’s a UK based hosting with almost 10 years experience. It started in 2000, where I believe the early formation of WoldWideWeb knowledge in our region.
PickAWeb offers some good deals for domain name, £8.99/year for dotCOM, and dotNET. It has the features of email forwarding, web forwarding and domain control panel. The control panel part is what I love the most! As a non-IT nor computer related course background, I need something as user friendly as possible, and what comes with control panel is the most welcomed!
This site offers 24/7 technical support, either via phone call, email, and even live chat! Even if we already registered the domain with another company, the support team would help to transfer to PickAWeb at anytime, and of course with minimum cost.
I pick one of the testimonials received by them, from Richard Reeman of www.rnr-it.co.uk:
“I would happily recommend Pickaweb to anyone, not only do they offer excellent services with friendly customer service but they are inexpensive also!…”
More testimonials can be viewed HERE.
So for those who are still considering changing your domain name from dotBLOGSPOT or dot WORDPRESS (just to mention a few), you might want to put PickAWeb in your list 😉
