In my kampung, some so-called educated parents are insisting their kids to pursue any certificate from IPT, public or private, doesn’t matter it is a sijil or diploma or degree or whatever they name it. For some bright student like me (HaHaHa) scholarship could be not an issue. Furthermore, I am an ambitious one and my parents had nothing to worry about my studies (unless my CGPA :P).
But, there are students who go study for the sake of getting cert and to fulfill their parents’ wish, without any passion. This actually happened to my closest family member.
This guy went to an IPTS, supposedly to get a diploma. And even if it is a 3-year program for diploma, the cost is almost the same as what UTP-engineering-student has to pay. What la the college so expensive. And it was so easy to get PTPTN (I wonder why PTPTN is so generous. I tried to get PTPTN before, tanpa penjamin banyak ‘faedah’ :D. There’s guarantors la but just had to get 2 USM’s lecturers’ signature je).
Unfortunately, this guy was not as good as his parents thought. He neglected his studies, got himself a motorbike and until today, after 2 years of leaving the campus, he never graduates. No convocation, no certification from the college. Dunno whether he finished his studies or not. Sungguh misterius.
When the PTPTN sent the letter, he was jobless. And without the diploma cert., he got a job as an operator using his SPM one. With gaji yang sama banyak dengan what PTPTN asked, how to pay PTPTN?
Sangat sedih, if I were the parents, hmm.. I dunno la. I hope my kids will be witty enough to choose their path. If they want to study then please study hard because you’re not studying on your own money. Hutang maaaaaa. PTPTN summore, ‘faedah’nya banyak!
To my sedara mara I said, if you so malas to study, then don’t study. Because why, you’re not study on your parent’s money. Of course la if you’re not too good to get a scholarship, you’ll get PTPTN loan but it is a hutang remember. It’s not a free money lah. Tapi for budak2 that do not really know about the real situation, agaknya they take PTPTN as their father’s company. (Not to offense any PTPTN students).
Why should you stop studying after SPM if you don’t have passion?
- If you dunno what course you are taking & take is just for the sake of ‘getting certificate’. kang nanti orang ingat bodoh sangat pulak tak ada kelayakan akademik. Remember that you have to have a job to pay them back. If you take course yang tah apa2 but with high fees, later then if you don’t get any job (gaji) yang setara dengan your qualification, kan susah nak bayar hutang.
- If you feel malas belajar, or dismissed ke, you still have to pay to PTPTN. Kalau malas, awal2 jangan belajar or jangan amik loan. If your mother insists, ask her to bear your study cost.
- When no IPTA college offers you but berlambak IPTS college comes. Remember that IPTS costs you very very very the high amount of money, and the PTPTN interest is high. Some colleges.. I really wonder lah they are teaching people ke buat bisnes. My 4th bro wasn’t get any B pun, A apatah lagi, got an offer to do Mechanical Engineering at a private college with a confirm PTPTN. Apakah?
- The cost of taking PTPTN, is not actually bore by you alone. If you failed to pay it today, for your children tomorrow PTPTN might get the lessons. Maybe dah susah giler nak dapat loan PTPTN. You know la sekarang budak2 ramai yang pandai2. Even straight As pun berlambak. Ni pulak ada A+ lagi. If you make scene harini, and your adik-adik or kids tomorrow who get cukup2 makan je but eager to study, tapi takde duit… forget je la kan nak go to tertiary if PTPTN pun dah berkira.
I listened to Hot FM the other day, when they talked about PTPTN loaner yang tak bayar and stopped by LHDN from going abroad. I wasn’t sure what was the issue. A worker who goes abroad must be working with a multinational company, or government with at least at executive level. Why hard to pay the loan? My friends, a couple who used to study at UTP and both took PTPTN are struggle-ly paying their loan that cost them more than RM1k per month. For an ex-IPTA, I guess the fee is not as high as UTP, so why hard to pay back? If they can go to overseas, busuk2 pun they get some allowance la kan. Except kalau ke luar negara jadi buruh kasar/pembantu rumah…
I might cakap senang la sebab I didn’t take PTPTN LOL.
But, if I were the PTPTN, bila ramai2 pinjam & tak bayar2…. I would stop funding dah lah… Even now I have to pinjam duit from a private bank. Buat bisnes Ah Long lagi untung.
Kalau nak escape hutang pun bajet2 lah… bawak2 la beringat, hutang tetap hutang. Mati besok roh susah nak ‘berangkat’.
