Bila cakap pasal RON95 vs RON97, semua orang pun nak keluarkan pelbagai teori. Saya takkan ulas tentang teknikal sebab saya sendiri pun tak paham but in the end of the day, sure la kita nak tahu mana lebih menguntungkan pengguna, bukan?
Saya akan share analisis peribadi tentang RON95 vs RON97, but this one is real test rather than another Research Octane Number teori. Eksperimen ini saya jalankan dengan mengisi penuh minyak untuk RON95 & RON97. Bagi memastikan data adalah konsisten,
- saya isi di stesen minyak yg sama sepanjang ujian
- saya aka isi full tank dan biarkan ia berhenti sendiri.
- Saya lalu jalan yg sama ke tempat kerja,

On average, consumption minyak untuk RON95 ialah 15.53km/L (11.6sen/km). RON97 pulak 15.37km/L (13.3sen/km). RON95 boleh bagi 1% lebih kilometer walaupun dengan harga 13% lebih rendah per kilometer berbanding RON97. So, mana lagi jimat?
Btw, this simple test done on MyVi 1.0 Manual Yr2006. the result may vary from yours, so better test yourself and get the best value for your money!

saya yang berulang-alik dari Balakong ke Senawang utk kerja setiap hari ni rasa RON95 tu agak jimat sikit.. tak banyak beza sangat berbanding RON97..

mungkin kita bole buat perbandingan antara jenis2 kereta pula
kete saya musti isi RON97 (wira aeroback auto). 1st time isi RON95, kete berat nk mampos, rasa nak mengamuk je time tu sbb tekan minyak , kete xjalan2. kalo balik kg, wajib jugak isi RON97, sbb nanti xlepas nk naik bkt.

sy guna RON 97. 1st time pakai RON 95 jadi macam joely gak. enjin cam mengaum lebih2 plak. terus guna RON 97 smpai skrg. RON 95 kurang power. nak panjat bukit kena tekan minyak lebih2. bler jadi cani fuel consumption lagik byk. bler campur tolak balik tak menjimatkan pon walopon RON 95 murah. lain kete lain la kot.. kannnn..

isi PETRONAS RON95 RM40.00@22.22 liter = 300-310 km saje.
isi PETRONAS RON97 RM46.00@22.22 liter = 330-350 km…
so.. personally, lagi untung kalo isi RON97, sbb lbh kilometer.. beza RM6 tapi power lg best, kilometer pon lebih…
kitorg mmg all this while isi 22.22 liter ni.. sbb tu terasa sgt bile gne RON95…

hmm, 10% more km but at 15% more in cost? tp in term of power mmg sah2 la ron97 menang…
susah juga walaupun nak guna Ron 97 sebab lagi power masalahnya nak cari stesen minyak yang jual Ron 97 pun payah kebanyakannya takde takpun ada satu dua jea tempat jea..kebanyakannya Ron 95

me try sekali jer pakai ron 95, kereta berat semacam (kia spectra 1.6 auto).dah laa minyak cepat abes minggu tu tak macam ron 97.lepas 2-3 kali isi penuh pakai ron 97, br kereta me ok balik dan tak berat.
tu pertama dan terakhir me guna ron 95.

Ron95 telah menjahamkan keta aku…x psl plug cepat hancur n keta jadi berat…ble periksa bengkel memang teruk..pas tukar Ron97 memang x de msalah keta tip top lik…pkir sndri….
mind sharing ape pasal dengan lebih technical? anything to do with anti-knocking? pasal keta jadi berat tu of cos la, dah RON pun lower. overall mmg ron97 ok, tapi harganya terlalu tinggi untuk faedah “bawak best”. spark plug satu baper hinggit je?
R.O.N stands for Research Octane Number, a rating used to measure a fuels knocking resistance in spark-ignition internal combustion engines. RON rating has nothing to do with the ENERGY content at all.
Fact: RON refers to the ability of the fuel to resist knocking and nothing else.
Do you really know what knocking is all about?
Knocking is what happens when parts or all of the air-fuel mixture prematurely ignites before the flame from the spark plug can reach it. This can be caused by ignition timing that is too early [advance] or overheat where the heat from the cylinder itself causes the mixture to combust before the spark plug can burn the mixture. This causes a decrease in performance and might also harm the engine. Only in such situation the engine needs higher RON fuel.
RON is NOT power rating for the fuel. In fact higher RON number means the fuel burns less easily and less efficient for the engines desiged to run on lower RON ratings! By pumping the RON97 into a car which engine only requires the RON95, all you are going to get is an emptier wallet yet hardly counts for performance gains.
Previously we do not have RON95 fuel in our market, we have no choice but to use RON97 fuel for the engine. No harm using higher RON on modern cars though – the ECU will make ignition timing to fire spark plug early, but u r paying more for the fuel.
Some engines which have higher compression ratios however, need higher knock resistance to withstand higher compression. Hence higher RON rating is required.
hehehe.. agree with uncle DIY.. some of us maybe confuse between RON and BTU contain in petrol. Or some just have no idea at all about petrol but still try to post something interesting like “RON97 more save like RON95″. this kind of topic surely will become interesting since everybody know that RON95 is cheaper than RON97. our people tend to believe “magic” thing like this easily.. i also don’t know why.. hehehe…
