We had discussion about Montessori education recently and that triggers me to write this entry.
For year, I’m longing to have a so-called Montessori home. I bought several Montessori materials when Hafiy was a little baby. But to have a Montessori-home like what I wish was no to avail.
Until I sent my kids to a nursery cum kindy that practices Glenn Doman method, Montessori was something unreachable. However, I’m still practicing some Montessori techniques especially in practical life. Montessori method is not very hard to do. It’s back to the common sense, but definitely needs some effort to learn, stay focus and be consistent.
These are books I am reading and used to read to self-learn Montessori. I didn’t attend any class, just caught the bits of knowledge from forums, books, websites and friends.
The first book I read was the far right one – Montessori From the Start by Paula Polk and Lynn Lillard. It is a great book, explaining how we could start Montessori from birth.
Actually I am an early children education lover but not restricted to any particular method. I just practice what I find suitable to our situation. Of course Khalifah Method (and any other Islamic methods) is the most promising method. But too many things sometimes make life likely to turn upside down LOL. As what my husband always said “You read so many books and so many ECE method, but you throw out everything when you’re stress” LOL
I have another interesting book about Montessori education,
This book is very exciting. It illustrates how Montessori method could be materialized everywhere and anywhere.
If you have small budget, don’t grab all Montessori books, because all are about the same.. Get a book for parents as a guidance and motivation – like Montessori From the Start, and another step-by-step on how to do it practically, like what I have here, How to Raise an Amazing Child The Montessori Way, OR Montessori Play & Learn, or Montessori Read & Write.
Can always to online to get the vast knowledge about Montessori education and download free materials.
