We set the appointment at 4pm but Abiy had to go to Miri and we afraid if he might missing his flight, so we change it to 12. Unfortunately Anton (this is how we pronounce his name, I dunno his real name for he is a Germany) would only arrive at 2pm, so we waited at the clinic lobby until 2.
As he arrived, Dr Taayah invited us the a room and he checked on Fahry’s leg.
Anton explained to us about prosthesis for Fahry. He said since he’s still small, and the biggest ‘foot’ for children is 14cm, but Fahry is 9cm instead, so he’ll just make something like a foot with no cosmetic feature. Just for the purpose of standing. OK la.. What Fahry need now is ability to walk after all.
The cost, very costly lah. The cheapest is around RM1,000-2,000 for baby like Fahry. For adult RM3,000-7,000, or more, depending on the materials amd the functions. There some basic prosthesis that would only make you able to walk, but there’s also some special features like able to sit for tahiyat awal & akhir, pusing2 like real foot, made of titanium, etc.
..enam, tujuh, lapan… lapan lagi.. satu, dua…

“This is how to massage his leg”
Reaching out.
Siapakah si kacak dalam cermin itu?
Casting Fahry’s leg for the socket.
The plaster cast.
We’ll meet him again on 28th in the afternoon for fitting.
Fahry was very well-behaved during the procedure. According to Anton, usually little kids would cry and the process may take hours but for Fahry, it was very easy cos he gave full cooperation. In less than 10 minutes, everything has been done.
I’m sure he’ll able to walk or run sooner after getting his prosthesis. Fahry is a positive person after all. Looking at him for the first time, nobody would notice that he has only one foot. We hope he himself won’t keep it inside that he is an OKU, but accepts that he’s a special someone and the apple of everybody’s eyes.
As advised by his doctor, we try to get the second prosthesis for him, probably from JKM (Yet to applied :P) because he needs a spare, in case anything happen to his current prosthesis.
I feel so excited to see my son in his ‘new foot’. I want to call him Bionic Boy 😀 Or Transformers 😀 Or Robocop 😀
Hopefully the first product can fit him well. Tak sabar tengok Fahry berdiri sendiri. Ini baru betul dapat kaki!
