Ramadhan is a month with full of blessings and rewards, though Rasulullah SAW and The Noble Companions r.a. practices reflected the special of the last ten days/nights or we call it as ’10 malam terakhir’. As the last third of Ramadhan, this last 10 days should be utilized to put our effort to the maximum before Ramadhan sets it sail and pass by, until we meet the next Ramadhan, which nobody can ensure.
As of today, 21 Ramadhan, meaning that we have only 8 days to perform fasting in this very month of Ramadhan. As recommended by Rasulullah SAW, that this last third of Ramadhan is the ‘release from hellfire’ so we should grab this opportunity to stop committing sins and other manners lead to sin.
Actually this last third is the most challenging period of the month, because we have to fight with other big thing – Raya preparation. Beside iktikaf and reciting al-Quran , we usually focus to ‘main bunga api’, or ‘shopping for raya’, or ‘pasang langsir’ or ‘buat kuih raya’. So it is really a perfect motivation when Rasulullah once said “Seek for Lailatul Qadar (night of decree) in the odd, last 10 nights of Ramadhan” (HR Bukhari & Muslim). So for most people, other than overwhelming by raya preparation, they’ll go for seeking the lailatulqadar, a night that is better than 1000 months.
This last ten days also a good time to ponder about our amalan for this month, will it be only for Ramadhan? Or it’ll continous until we meet the next Ramadhan? Qiyamullail, reciting al-Quran, donation… should it stopped when Ramadhan left?
Some points to rethink before Ramadhan left, to see whether we make the full use of Ramadhan, or let it go just like that:
- Did i perform solat sunat? Including terawikh, tahajud and so on?
- Did I consistently read the Quran?
- Did I give more focus in the 5-times-a-day prayer?
- Did I invite anyone for iftar (buka posa)?
- Did I be more patient?
- Did I stop telling bad thing about anyone?
- Did I give help for anyone needed?
- Did I consistently check my intention and do things just because of Allah?
- Did I consistently ask for Allah’s forgiveness?
- Did I control my anger?
- Did I ever annoy anyone in this month of Ramadhan?
- Did I invite my family/friends to join the Ramadhan activities, i.e. iftar, tarawih, etc.
- Did I do some transformation from bad to good?
If we never think about those, let’s start to think now. Jangan duk ralit fikir pasal persiapan raya je 😛
Now raya songs start to berkumandang everywhere. One of the tak boleh blah (so sorry for the composer and writer) is ‘kita beraya selama sebulan’. Is that mean a ‘revenge’ after a month of fasting? 😀
This last 10 days of Ramadhan, let us ponder Ramadhan lesson, and bring it to the next month of Syawal and so on.
- Good deeds should not stop when Ramadhan ends – When Ramadhan comes, we like to give more sedekah, donation, etc. After Ramadhanm it should not stop because good deed is needed anytime and anywhere, not only during Ramadhan. The reward, even if Ramadhan is promised to be more, but how much we don’t know. So continue doing the good deed even if not in the month of Ramadhan.
- A Muslim’s tomorrow should be better than yesterday – Syawal should be better than Ramadhan, in term of what we have done for this whole month. We read Quran during Ramadhan, so continue reading in Syawal and months later. We perform night prayer during Ramadhan, and continue performing it. We stop backbiting people and saying bad words during Ramadhan, so does the other months, we better stop it forever.
- After accepting, is time to say thank you – As we know that Ramadhan is month of blessings and the reward is so banyak2, after Ramadhan is time to say thank you to the giver. Rasulullah SAW says thank you to Him by performing night prayer until his feet swollen. How about us?
May this Ramadhan won’t leave us just like that. Let’s seek for the Night of Decree, and may Allah flood us with His forgiveness and rahmat.
“He or she is a great loser who finds Ramadan then comes out of it without gaining forgiveness and goodness” (HR Bukhari & Muslim)
Oh my.. has Ramadhan ends?
