Hafiy caught fever on Wednesday, I gave him paracetamol syrup in our fridge to cool him down, since Abiy wasn’t home and nobody was available to bring him to clinic. Furthermore, in this critical (it’s critical for babies) situation of H1N1, I rather not bringing them to the place that might expose them to the virus-clinics and hospitals.
But his temperature didn’t come down. 39-38 degree celcius. So that night we brought him to Prince Court Medical Center, to the Emergency Department. I worried if something crazy happened to him. Since he is only a 2 year old and still with immature immunity system.
The doctor said it’s nothing to worry, since he had no flu, no cough, just high fever. I was thinking that he was going to have his another tooth coming.
However, his temperature never came down, even after given medicine prescribed. Abiy asked me to keep on sponging him and waited for the next day.
Abiy went off to work as usual. Hafiy still had fever and he refused to drink. He just latched on my boobs but didn’t swallow. I had those engorged and had to pump 2 times for he didn’t suckles. Sob sob sob. I asked him to drink EBM but he refused. Still, he wanted to be in breastfeeding position.
Suddenly ‘Is he going to wean off?” crossed my mind. He’s going to be 2 this October, and I am not surprise if he decided to wean off. But it was tiring serving him. He refused to let my boobs go, but didn’t swallow.
His temperature still 39-38. I called Abiy and he decided to come back home and bring him to see his Paed. For any circumstance, I packed our things, in case Hafiy need admission.
Dr. Anna Padma checked him and saw his tonsils was swollen, reddish and whitish, indication of infection. So he had tonsillitis. No wonder he refused to drink and eat. Dr Anna wanted to keep him under observation (since he refused to eat and drink), but due to H1N1 cases which is A LOT in the particular hospital, she asked us to bring him back, and bring back to her if his condition worsen. The bloody H1N1 has made the hospital that should be a fortress for the sicks, now become a threat. Uh uhuuhh…
She prescribed antibiotic and tampel in case his fever went up very high.
Alhamdulillah, Hafiy is getting well and finished his antibiotic intake. He now can eat and drink as usual.
Then Fahry was infected by the same bacteria. We brought him to Dr.Altaf’s Child Clinic in TTDI. It was our first time there, after reading Jua’s review 😀 it was a nice clinic, with a baby room summore. I like!
So now we have 3 pediatrician clinics in our list here in Kuala Lumpur:
- Dr. Anna Padmavathy of Prince Court Medical Center, KL
- Klinik Pakar Kanak2 London, Bandar Sri Damansara
- Klinik Pakar Kanak2 Dr. Altaf, Tmn Tun Dr Ismail
