Naming You Part II

admin Avatar
.!.
H for….. ?

the idea of choosing this name for you was come since.. when ah? maybe at my 3rd month of pregnancy. initially abi would like to name his kids with.. something +UL at the end of the first name. something like shahrul or saiful or badrul etc. and for girls maybe zatul or ainul etc -> to make it rhythmic with his name: zainul.

but dont know when, suddenly the idea vanished and we planned to name you with 2 words A + H. but again, i felt not very nice for having long name but you’ll be called with other name like what both of us are facing. – the hardest question for me to answer is “what shuld i call u?” i am called KakLong by family&orgkampung, Alin by inlaws, Alom@Along by my frens, Lyna by the others, Mek Na by some frens, CT by my colleagues… till i dont know which one is the most appropriate for a first timer. and, in the intention of not to burden you with such problem, we decided to name you by a word only.

but still we stick to the name we chose before (that’s your name), by eliminating the first part. i checked in several baby names books for the meaning and all told me the same – ‘The One Who Ennoble’, and i didn’t feel satisfy. i don’t think it’s the true meaning of the word. i don’t have any arabic dictionary with me to check and i don’t really rely on those books. sometimes the translation is not as per meaning in arabic. so i checked in the tafsir (tak ada kamus, tafsir pn berguna) cos ur name recites several times in al-Quran.

i could spot one time in surah Maryam and one time in surah al-A’raf. both surah give the different meaning. in Maryam it means ‘Gracious‘ while in al-A’raf it means ‘Having Good Knowledge‘. however, both are spelled differently, and in Arabic, even if only a tanwin, it changes the entire meaning e.g. ummi & ummiy, umar & ‘umar, etc. then i found summary about a book written by Sayyidi Jalal al-Din al-Suyuti about the Prophet’s names and, guess what.. your name is one of those! and it means ‘Affectionate and Kind‘.

now, then only i feel satisfy with your name’s meaning. my bad, i should continue learning Arabic.. whoaaa….. and now i can tell confidently if people ask me about your name’s meaning. what available in the baby names’ books are not convincing, the meaning is hanging and doesn’t impress me. but since your name is unique (at least among my frens), that’s why we chose the name.

i really like your name. it sounds soft and indulgent to my ears. sometimes i just call your name over and over again. just because i like it =). can you hear me?

nama memainkan peranan yang sgt penting dalam memdidik akhlak…kita sendiri sedar betapa manusia hari ini bertindak/berkelakuan tidak mengikut maksud nama…justeru ibu bapa perlu menzahirkan setiap maksud yang tersurat dan tersirat agar anak2 kita lebih memahami falsafah akidah…hehehe (hidayat=petunjuk)

susah kn nak cari name that both mak bapak would agree on,hehe.
btw kalau ikut kn arabic punye grammar if name yg hujung -ul tu if ade second name kn. cos -ul tu is bile first name sambung dgn second name yg starting wiz alif-lam. so if zairul tu, meaning last letter of the first name (which is huruf ro) sambung dgn alif-lam of the second name…

rasenye mcm tu kalau ikutkn gramticaly.

    a ah. you are rite!

tu yg xmo letak samting like tet,yg 1st name biasanya common name je like Saif-ul, Khair-ul, Zair-ul, etc… & at the end ppl call him with the 1st name jugak. like my huby Zainul Anuar, only family call him Anuar, org lain, Zainul. & if ada 10 Zainul e.g. Zainul Abidin, Zainul Arifin, Zainul etc…. semo pun dipanggil Zainul jugak.

confuse kan? susah2 cari nama utk diferentiate anak kita dgn org lain last2 jd confuse jgk hehe.

oh br baca ur previous post, u like the name Uzair…i’m really verry verrrryyy in love wiz tat name! unfortunately hubby doesnt like it. At last kena compromise coz he agreed wiz the 2 gals name tat i choosen without any “argument”..hehe

we wanted to put harith’s name as Ahmad Harith Bazli, tapi hubby kate panjang sgt.Had to choose either or. Since there’s a hadith saying sebaik2 name is harith and humam, so we stick to Harith. But name panggilan among family members would be bazli (which not stated in birth cert). biar kwn2 lain panggil harith.

hmm, i also like the name ziyad, tapi hubby tak suke gak. n we try to letak name yg org takkan suke2 pendekn. like name Azman, ppl panggil Man je. penat2 je mak pabak cari name wiz gud maksud

wahaha. susah jugak nk pilih nama ya. betul la, cari nama yg xbole dipendek2, barula jadi cantik makna dia & dia pn insyaAllah cantik ngan dipanggil nama penuh yg baik maksudnyer.

look like u have to have a long list of names. mana tau next babies pn come in sets of triplets jgk or twins or quads ke plak!

p/s: Uzair now is called Jay je. & xsemorang bole pronounce nama dia. salunya org sebut Yuzir, U-za-ir, Huzir, mcm2 lg la.

my wife and I bila expecting a baby, alhamdulillah, we already have names at hands, either boy or girl.

When the doc confirmed the baby is boy, then we started to call him by his name, even though he is still unborn.

everytime i pegang my wife punye perut masa preggy tu, i will call the name, and dia akan reply dengen kick perut ummi dia.

Everytime lepas baca yaasin, yusuf, luqman or maryam, i akan call his name. masa nak tidur panggil lagi.

and so will be his name after birth, yg abang nama Mu’ammar and adiknya Ayman. just one word aje…

all the best for you both, moga selamat nanti. insyaAllah.

    dinoor:

wah.. best kan that experience. look like all unborn babies respond by kicking bila nama dia dipanggil.

but ours one pelik sket, bila panggil nama dia, dia sudently stop even if b4 tu duk tgh galak kicking. agaknya dia tgh pay attention kat mommy&abi nk bgtau apa kot. hehe.

tp still we call him by his name instead of baby. kdg2 geram pggl ‘hey budak kecik’. hehe.

canepun, smg semua anak2 kita2 lahir & membesar ngan sihat & berjaya dunia akhirat.

    thanks for the doa & u too, Abu&Ummu Mua’mmar & Ayman.

    Aniq = handsome. (yr 1st n3 on baby’s name)

Everytime I got preggy, choosing the baby’s name is the most exciting thing to do! Apart from shopping for baby’s thingys that is. Hehe.

    Hey, take care dear. Enjoy.
