How To Prevent H1N1 – Better Safe Than Sorry

Aunty Fid texted me via GTalk yesterday morning telling that ke 7th case of influenza-A H1N1 is someone who just came back from Australia. Right now, Tok Ma, Aunty Fatin & Uncle Muhd, all are in the Kangaroo land! Uncle Muhd went to Perth while Tok Ma and Aunty Fatin to Gold Coast. Horrible kan. Especially after knowing that 1000 cases was detected in Australia, and most of it at Queensland, where Gold Coast is located!

This morning, I watched an announcement on TV telling that “If you can’t delay your travel to overseas…” oh, is that means should be no vacation trip to overseas?

I told Aunty Rizza and she told me to wear mask, everybody in the house should wear mask especially the one who just coming back from abroad.

Suddenly I got a call from Uncle Muhd, asking me to fetch him at his school. Oh no.. I tot he’s coming back on 9th. Abiy had a rehearsel for a workshop that he has to organize as well as be the presenter. And I dunno how to get to Sek Men Sains Alam Syah in Cheras. So finally Uncle Muhd decided to come back by his own.

I went to Guardian to get some mask. 6 pairs for 6 of us.

I was very hard to get Hafiy on mask. It’s very uncomfortable, even for me. But for safety precaution, we won’t take this for granted. Even if Uncle Muhd keep on insisting that he’s OK, and all the test done (including blood test) was negative, and Aunty Munirah told me that as long as Uncle Muhd has no flu, it is OK, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.

So he’s under quarantine, for 2-3 days. Until we satisfy with his condition.

What makes me worry is, the kids. Especially Fahry. If anything happen to him because we take some small things for granted, I won’t forgive myself.

Now we’re really strict about hygiene in the house. Use tissue to cover mouth when coughing or sneezing; wash hand with soap everytime after using toilet and before touch food, not forgetting touch babies; etc. And most importantly, send anyone who fall sick to the hospital ASAP. Luckily Hospital Sungai Buloh is just at the nearby neighbourhood.

Tok Ma and Aunty Fatin had their influenza jab before flew off to Australia but the nurse said it was not for H1N1. Still no vaccine for it.

I still remember 7 years back, a junior at my uni told us that AIDS is not a desease, it’s a bala. But I think influenza is the real bala. We can prevent AIDS, even it is not easily spreaded, except by random sex, sharing jarum suntikan, blood transfusion… but influenza can be spreaded by air, sentuhan.. and the virus mutates. Difference influenza virus was detected since the Spanish Girl. Now I heard they are afraid if swine flu virus meets bird flu virus and mutate to be a new-deadly influenza virus.

What a life… A very very very small creation ables to change the whole world and makes everybody feel threathened. And now I am very afraid to get out of my own bedroom LOL.
