Crayola Art Studio That Makes Hafiy Occupied

admin Avatar

I was a bit skeptical about lots of toys for my babies. They don’t have toys except a few. And cars those Abiy bought at Shell station for RM8. It actually reflects to my childhood, I didn’t have much toys, what I remember was a plastic gun and a little teddy bear. I didn’t have dolls, and have been dreaming for Barbie since I was small until now 😀 And my little brothers had everything (yang murah2 je sesuai dengan kemampuan my parents). Until they reached to the stage that “tak tahu nak beli mainan apa dah sebab semua dah ada”.

But fortunately I did better than them in school and everything. Not to compare or to downgrade my own brothers, just to justify why we don’t have toys. Afterall, our people memang suka justify apa2 kan? Especially kalau benda ambiguous dibualkan tapi dia terasa orang cakap pasal dia, terus berkilo2 justification diberi. Kah Kah Kah.

My father said he bought me alphabet fridge magnet when I was small & I keep on playing with it until I could read before go to kindergarten (tapi pelik kenapa saya tidak genius? LOL). So I want to to the same for Hafiy. I bought him Crayola Art Studio with magnetic white board and alphabets. Reason being because I am very malas to do flashcard-ing.  But as Abiy told me, it’s not about the flashcards nor the expensive early educational programs, it’s how you (it’s me) commit and consistently educate our kids with love, it doesn’t matter how. But I was very skeptical at first.

But I still let Hafiy plays with his favorite art studio.

Frankly, because of my laziness, I don’t expect anything from him. Until one day he came to me and said “Mi… em!” while showing me ‘M’. He went and came again “Mi… efff” and showed me ‘F’. When I open Opera Mini browser in my N95 he shouts “O!”.

This reminds me to one of my good friends who said “Kesian anak kita, kita tak mampu nak beli mainan2 & benda2 mahal untuk dia, mesti dia lambat pandai”. No, no dear. As long as you spend time with your love ones and you fill it up with love, it won’t take any cent to make your kids ‘pandai’! And it doesn’t take 24 hours a day, 10-30 minutes is enough. Even 5 minutes a day is enough. And of course it doesn’t take a day or even a week. It took like forever until you feel “Biar je la dia ikut development sendiri”.

But there’s always be a surprise!

Perhaps, by showing them what makes we proud, it might give them motivation to do it over and over again. Now Hafiy likes to do something to catch my attention, “Mi… (showing what he had done)” and a big kiss for any good deeds.

My father believes that toys boleh stimulate minda dan kreativiti anak-anak. That’s why our house memang penuh dengan toys masa kecil-kecil dulu. And my father was very particular kalau nak beli, dia suka beli yang mahal-mahal, satu set, yang imported, sebab tahan lama, berkualiti dan proven educational. Kitorang 10 beradik, dari Abang Long sampai ke yang bongsu, warisi toys tu, memang berbaloi beli yang mahal-mahal. Even now my kids warisi banyak toys from my youngest brother yang dah umur 15 tahun tu.

Brought up begitu, I pun creazy beli mainan kat anak-anak. Alhamdulillah, I share the same opinion with my husband, even though my husband tak dibesarkan dengan toys. Our routine tiap-tiap malam lepas semua anak tidur, we will spend about 40 minutes untuk sort out semua toys letak dalam bakul ikut category, because I am very organized, tak suka mainan masak-masak campur dengan blogs, etc.

I believe, toys are good for kids! Sebagaimana buku, toys juga ada peranannya dalam perkembangan anak-anak.

      indeed!

yg penting sejauh mana peranan ibubapa dalam melibatkan diri dgn anak2, nak pakai kekdah apa pun lantak pi lah kan. nak main2 ka, nak serius2 ka, nak lompat2 ka..

Lynna, i firmly believe that art is one of most important ways to develop critical and creative hinking, of our right brain ..along dgn ability to read and so on, of our left brain..I’m rather impressed dgn kids yg lebih cepat catchup utk draw & visualised something spt bercerita dgn their imagination..drpd kids yg selalunya org kita concern pasal “dah boleh baca awal” or “dah hafal abc”….

So, i always buy stuff utk my daughter buat painting, colour, let her explore all stuff of things mcm kat supermarket kat bahagian sayur ke, buah ke, ikan ke.. and layan je semua soalan..but never emphasise her to sit down properly and read ‘abc’ and 123′ for one hour ( 15 minit ok kot..my maximum time..hehe) …belasah je semua..cuma kena kontrol la kan..kang pening pulak budak tu..hehe

Kids mmg sgt bagus dlm absorb any input kan? cuma the way they utilise their memory to be applied through imagination ke..art ke…is important..drpd kita impressed dgn kids yg boleh hafal everything..tp last2 kita wonder, naper kecik2 dulu terer abc n membaca awal..tp dah besar..tak la genius sgt.. 🙂 (tapi, semua kids ada kelebihan masing2..cuma realised or tidak je sebenarnye..)

Sama macam kita tahu formula matematik, kenal numbers, tapi tak tahu cara selesaikan sesuatu masalah matematik tu menggunakan combination semua tu..mcm tak kena je..

If we research through other international education, semua lebih menggalakkan early education through art & exploration..drpd concentrate dgn abc and 123..They prefer learning through exploration in real play world..

BTW, any ways yg kita focus or apply utk kids development semuanya bagus kan?Saya setuju comment lynna, the effort tu yg penting…

      Indeed!

Semua mtd pn bole diaply bgantung pd parents’ & children’s interest. Kan?

As long as semuanya berterusan. Either pandai melukis / baca awal tp dlm tempoh membesar parents dah tak folo up pun takde makna. Tol tak?

im just saying this out from my humble point of view. some toys mmg bring benefits to the child. especially having a premie baby i believe toys do play important role for the developmental progress.

simple toys yg with bright colours that we adults may just see it as alar setakat bentuk2 warna warni ape lah sgt. but bright colour would stimulate their brain.

i learn this when i did my undergrad psychology. so not only did i learn in theoritically but it has proven to be tru when i used it with my kids.

my elder two punye paeds doctor pun impress with my kids progress when he compares them with other premature.

tp bukan lar sume toy bring benefits..we as a parents kena lar evaluate the toys. but never underestimate simple2 toys…some con do wonders to our children development.

    wallahu’alam

yes…saya stuju pendapat mainan dan alatan educational yg mahal2 tidak menjamin pon anak kite lebih pandai.. yg penting quality time yg kite spend dgn anak2 utk mereka…smuanya atas ibu bapa..rajin atau malas… tnya laa diri sndri..mana yg kite mahu pilih…
