Avatar Movie Review, at GSC Gold Class Cinema

As a new year treat, Abiy took me to MidValley. We sent the kids to their nursery so that both of us would have our time alone. Penting untuk kami berdua have time alone macam ni. Ni lah masa untuk refresh semula hubungan. Jalan2 macam sebelum jadi parents

Ada setengah orang tu beranggapan bila dah ada anak2, masa yang ada adalah masa untuk keluarga, bersama anak2. So nak berlibur pun bersama anak2. To me, husband tetap seorang individu yang perlukan layanan special. Yang perkara wajib tu memang lah wajib, yang benda2 macam ni perlu untuk kekalkan kemanisan rumahtangga. Ada juga suami yang tak kisah if isteri takde time alone bersama dia, depends la kan.

It was about 10.15 am and I had to make a delivery of Breastfeeding Set Trial Pack, so Abiy went to GSC cinema to buy our ticket. I was lots of people at the Post Office Midvalley, which is next to Jusco kat Grounf Floor. And only at 10.50am I got all the packs registered with PosLaju. Pastu terus berkejar ke GSC kat level 4.

Abiy was waiting for me while queuing at the pop corn counter. He got us two golden ticket to Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory! Gold Class tickets! It was exciting cos I was never been in such Gold Class cinema. Usually we go for the cheapest ticket je :P This time ada rezeki lebih, so Abiy belanja yang mahal sikit. Lagipun dah lama tak keluar berdua. Sesekali keluar berdua, berhabis sikit takpe untuk yang tersayang juga

The gold class one… very far from the cinema I usually in. Ya kami memang jakun dan jarang sangat pegi cinema. Kalau pegi pun pastikan movie tu berbaloi untuk ditonton. Takdenye nak tengok movie “Cinta Seekor Pari-Pari Dengan Orang Biasa” kat panggung. Heh!

Gold Class ni has a lounge with sofas and a bar, nice toilet.. The toilet bowl punya seat covered with plastic and we can ‘change’ it everytime we wanna use. So no need to sit on other’s bottom-print :P Bestnya la tapi apsal la mahal sangat ehhh.

Gold class cinema ni cuma ada beberapa kerusi besar dengan meja bulat antara 2 kerusi. Memang sesuai untuk couple2 yang haram untuk bersentuh-sentuhan berpelukan sebab kerusi dia jauh.

Ada beberapa family kat dalam tu. Since the cheap cheap couple budak sekolah yang suka amik kesempatan berganding kepala dan bahu dalam panggung tak mampu nak beli tiket Gold Class (kerek sungguh ayat ini), maka selamatlah kanak2 itu dari pemandangan seumpamanya. Tapi parents derang ni pun satu, mungkin derang tak perasan kot, kat paper ada tulis rating filem ni is 13 PG, meaning soem scenes are not appropriate untuk under 13 years old punya budak2. Tapi most of them bawak anak2 jenis budak tadika. Hambik kau time derang beraksi romantik pakat kalut tutup mata anak2

But the room was freaking cold. We needed to rent the blanket worth RM5 each. So cold until I was hardly feel my own fingers. Tapi memang best sebab boleh baring-baring. Rasa macam tengok movie kat rumah. Oh, kat rumah lagi tak aman dengan ada dua orang askar panjat2. Ni siap boleh kunyah pop corn lagi.

Avatar ni… movie by James Cameroon, the man of Titanic. This is an epic, sci-fi fantasy film, just like Star Wars and such. But it is so meaningful to me & Abiy, as we haven’t stop talking about Avatar until today. Kami ni memang suka cerita2 fantasi tah pa pe ni. Except Harry Potter & LOTR, I am not into those. Tak faham laaa :P But Abiy loves Harry Potter. Layaaaan~

Cameroon translated Avatar in a very genius way. Avatar means a representation of a person in another environment, which we are already familiar with Yahoo! avatar, chat avatar, etc. Avatar is ‘us’ in the virtual world. And this avatar is them (the team) in the Na’vi’s world. Best gilak kalau dapat ada avatar macam tu. Nak satu!

What amazes me was, that the film had been started in 1994. I was 15 years ago! What a very good plan of James Cameroon. I wish I still hold on my last year’s plan :P Memang gilos sungguh orang putes ini. Kenapa kita tak boleh?

Aha, I’m not going to write about the plot, but the value of the film that makes me feel really worth watching.

The Cast:

1. Seriously I never heard their names, let alone anything about them. Who said a pecah tabung film must be starred by superstars? Nehi beta, nehi. They actually wanted to cut the budget by hiring unknown actors but it was really smart. Remember Slumdog Millionaire?
2. The Na’vi people was 100% computer generated. How Cameroon was very positive to engineer the Na’vis, even from 1994 he remade them to meet with the latest technology. Cameroon also created the Na’vi language. Memang gile.

The Story:

1. It was set in 2154, the day where our Earth was heavily polluted, no green, no faunas etc. But the human were still as greedy as today. They came to Pandora (the moon of one of the planet) to dig for unobtarium, a material used in sci-fi to represent a very very strong property of material. It priced $20 Million per kg on Earth. What a crazzzy ppl.
2. 2154? It is more than 100 years from now! Tapi teknologi macam tak berkembanggg je. Diorang ni kene tengok drama Bio-Nik dengan Kapten Kit dulu nih.
3. Management team tu macam bercelaru sikit. Projek sikit punya besar tapi decision macam budak sekolah. Sorang nak A sorang nak B sorang nak C. Yang ketua dia pun agak bangang jugak. He willing to spend lots of money for the Pandora project and lots of times. Tapi tak boleh nak tunggu for another, say, hour… ?
4. There lots of ‘avatars’ on training, but for what purpose ah? In the end only the avatars of Jake Sully, Norm & Dr. Augustine ran in action. They should train all the human soldiers pakai avatar la jugak, baru takde kematian berlaku Apedah. You go all the way from Earth to Pandora just to mati katak? Bukan dapat syahid pun :P
5. Newcomer memang akan lebih best dari lelaki tempatan. Lebih handsome, lebih macho dan ada unsur2 fani lagi kelakar. (OK maybe thats why ramai gadis kita suka lelaki asing).
6. Who say a drop-out won’t success? At first Jake Sully (the hero, I suppose) wasn’t accepted well by Avatar’s team leader because he’s a paralysed marine. Actually dia pengganti kembar dia yang meninggal. Kembar dia had been trained for 3 years under avatar program. Tapi Jake ni got the spirit & became the man of the game. Tiba2 saya merasa saya seorang drop-out. Drop-out memang ramai yang berjaya. See, Bill Gates for example. That’s why I’m not regret for not being a best student back in Uni (Hahaha nak jugak backing kalau dah malas belajar tu kan?).
7. Er… despite all the excuses and reasons, nape amik Jake Sully yang tak ada background langsung tentang Avatar, Na’vi etc. to be included in the program? There are lots and lots more avatar yang ada kat  camp tuuu. Ayooo.
8. A strong-will and confidence will take care of everything. It motivates me a lot, especially during that time I was really afraid of this 2010 thingy that I’m going to venture. But Avatar helped me, motivated me in such a unique way.

My personal notes:

1. Jagalah alam sekitar kita. The flora & fauna in the story sangat2 santeeekkk. Walaupun cuma khayalan lagi kerja2 komputer tapi memang mendamaikan saat melihatnya. Just imagine if one day we lose all kecantikan alam sekitar hari ni just because we are too greedy to do lumbering and so on. What will happen to our children?
2. Amarekka ni ternyata memang bunk-sart. Hahaha.
3. Masuklah Gold Class untuk menjaga pandangan

Well actually tak semua orang give good rating untuk filem ni. Ada je yang kata boring or paling koman ‘biasa-biasa je’. But some Avatar fans tu dah tengok filem ni for the second time. Ya it’s depend la on what genre yang kita suka. Ada je yang tak suka cerita2 fantasi.

But this film kat US dapat cover cost dalam masa seminggu. & now kutipan dia adalah yang ketiga terbesar after Titanic & satu lagi filem ntah apa nama dia. Konfemlaaa bukan “Kuliah Chenta” :P

Kalau anda jenis suka menghabiskan duit di tempat2 seperti berikut, sila la tonton Avatar. Worth watching.

Mulanya kami nak tengok 3D tapi ada sumber menyatakan 3D ni nanti pening2 lalat sikit so tengok yang biasa je lah.
